2022 online KENET survey of all university students

Kenet is conducting the 2022 online survey of all university students mainly on laptop ownership and their off-campus Internet access options. Kindly forward the online survey link to your students through your all your channels (WhatsApp, social media, e-mail or even bulk SMS) - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KENET-Student-Laptop-Purchase-Program_SLPP_20226PHVPTM. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes. This is part of our Student Laptop Purchase Program initiative (we want to establish the barriers to new laptop purchases).

 

As an incentive, KENET shall guarantee the purchase of laptop using the lease-to-own arrangement for some 10 students from 10 different universities who book a laptop on the SLPP portal at https://slpp.kenet.or.ke during the survey window (July 1 – 10, 2022).

 

We conducted the last online survey of your students to in order to estimate the percent who owned a laptop as well as the off-campus Internet access options and budgets. The results indicated that only 23% of the students owned a laptop. We would like to see if this figure has changed.

 

We would appreciate it if all of you send the online survey to your students so that we could even have statistically significant data for each university or university college. We are also going to post the survey link on KENET social media platforms.

 

Note that KENET is compliant with the Data Protection Act 2019 and stores any personal data collected in a secure and confidential manner. Any reports shall be in aggregated form.

1. MALWARE : Also referred as ("malicious software") is a file or code/software which is typically delivered over the network, that is designed with the intention of disrupting, corrupting, or otherwise damaging a computer system, servers or computer network typically through gaining unauthorized access.

            

 

Often, several of these are combined into one attack. The most common threat used by hackers is ransomware . What hackers do is they encrypt all of your files so that you cannot access them. They then demand that you pay a ransom in order to regain access to them, although in most cases, you will never regain access to your files.
