The Division of Research, Innovation and Outreach through the Directorate of Research Support and Dissemination has organized a virtual training for members of staff and postgraduate students on "Cancer Genetics". The training will be facilitated by Ms. Linda van Bijsterveldt (Department of Oncology, University of Oxford). Ms. Linda is a B.Sc programme holder in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at Leiden University in the Netherlands. She has written extensively on the role of splicing factors SRSF7, SNRPA1, SMNDC1, and SNRPG in breast cancer migration pathways. Her study is focused on discovering novel mechanisms of resistance to WEE1 inhibitors, which have advanced into clinical studies as monotherapy and in combination with chemo- and radiotherapy in TP53, RAS, BRAF, and SETD2 mutation carriers across several tumour types. During her PhD, She has characterized the miR-106b~25 cluster of microRNAs in the replication stress and DNA damage responses in cancers.
