Two-step-verification (2SV) is a type of authentication method that requires two factors of authentication, a password and a code or confirmation message that is sent to a user's phone by SMS or application installed on the phone.  The University Corporate Email system has this feature as an option and a number of staff and students have already set up 2SV.

To improve the security of our email system, the University Management on advice from ICT has approved the enforcement of 2SV on all University Corporate Email accounts. To do this, ICT will enable the enforcement policy on all email accounts with a grace period of 60 days within which all users will be required to have enabled 2SV. 

2SV Policy Enable Date: 1st October, 2021
2SV Policy Enforcement Date: 1st December, 2021
Duration: 60 Days

The system will periodically remind all users to enable 2-step-verification (2SV) on their accounts for a period of 60 days before the policy becomes enforced and mandatory for all accounts. A guide on how to enable 2SV on your account is attached.
